Description of problem: This problem shows up in the GNOME clock applet or usign cal from util-linux-ng, which use the locale's first_weekday to determine the first weekday for the calendar. They show "domenica" (i.e. Sunday) as the first day of the week, but in Italy the correct one is "lunedì" (Monday). Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): glibc-2.7-2 How reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Change locale to it_IT 2. "locale first_weekday" returns 1 instead of 2 3. cal starts week on Sunday (domenica in Italian) Actual results: The first day of the week is "domenica" Expected results: The first day of the week should be "lunedì" Additional info: Similar to bug 299321 .
The fix for this bug is to add first_weekday 2 first_workday 2 to the LC_TIME section of file localedata/locales/it_IT
Where is the evidence? I'm not changing anything until you can point at official documents (e.g, government publications) supporting your claim.

First of all, I don't see a reason for you being grumpy. I searched the web for possible official documents, but didn't find anything specific. Anyway, any Italian can tell you that! For example if you buy a desk calendar, it always starts from Lunedì (Monday). Some references: http://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luned%C3%AC http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Weekday#First_day_of_the_week http://kalender-365.de/calendario.php http://www.polizia-penitenziaria.it/speciali/Claendario_2007/calendario_2007_mar.htm Also, the European Union Committee for Standardization adopted ISO 8601, which states that first day of the week is Monday: http://eur-lex.europa.eu/LexUriServ/LexUriServ.do?uri=OJ:C:2004:78E:0447:0447:EN:PDF http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO_week_date BTW, for bug 299321 you didn't ask for this kind of official documentation.
This bug appears to have been reported against 'rawhide' during the Fedora 10 development cycle. Changing version to '10'. More information and reason for this action is here: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/BugZappers/HouseKeeping
Haha, that's really the truth, I was going to report this same bug...!
This message is a reminder that Fedora 10 is nearing its end of life. Approximately 30 (thirty) days from now Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 10. It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time this bug will be closed as WONTFIX if it remains open with a Fedora 'version' of '10'. Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version prior to Fedora 10's end of life. Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we may not be able to fix it before Fedora 10 is end of life. If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Fedora please change the 'version' of this bug to the applicable version. If you are unable to change the version, please add a comment here and someone will do it for you. Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete. The process we are following is described here: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/BugZappers/HouseKeeping
