Is this the same machine as the previous ? If so could you invoke xastir from command line like this: $ /usr/bin/xastir on the above machine [christensene@eric] and paste me the output
[christensene@eric ~]$ /usr/bin/xastir Built-in map types: gnis USGS GNIS Datapoints map APRSdos Maps map WinAPRS/MacAPRS/X-APRS Maps pdb PocketAPRS Maps Support for these additional map types has been compiled in: geo Image Map (ImageMagick/GraphicsMagick library, many formats allowed) geo URL (Internet maps via wget) shp ESRI Shapefile Maps (Shapelib library) festival_client: connect to server failed SayText: Couldn't open socket to Festival *** Reading WX Alert log files *** Done with WX Alert log files Also, see the original entry.
Allright, this clearly means you have 2 xastirs installed, this is not good. paste plz $ whereis xastir also using /usr/bin/xastir everything works as expected ?
[christensene@eric ~]$ whereis xastir xastir: /usr/bin/xastir /usr/share/xastir /usr/share/man/man1/xastir.1.gz No online maps working under /usr/bin/xastir. I'll remove all and reinstall.
Allright so summing things up. You have xastir installed under /usr/bin/xastir from comment #4 > Support for these additional map types has been compiled in: > geo Image Map (ImageMagick/GraphicsMagick library, many formats allowed) > geo URL (Internet maps via wget) support for Imagemagick is ok support for wget is ok however it appears no online maps is working for you: please test is using $ /usr/bin/xastir -v 2 and report it back here thanks.
Okay, this is strange... I cleaned out my xastir install, removed everything, and ran a whereis and got nothing. I then install the package and I'm seeing xastir in /usr/bin/xastir /usr/share/xastir. can you temporary move away .xastir directory from your home or rename it and then repost all.
(In reply to comment #10) Okay, so I'm lost now. It works perfectly now. What would be in the .xastir folder that would be holding me back? There are some people on the Xastir mailing list that were having the same problem and I'd like to know exactly what to tell them. hard to tell without seeing the actual files. care to compress the folder and sent it over ? please use my email address, in order not to leak any callsigns orther stuff. meanwhile you can probably post an quick dirty solution to drop or rename current .xastir dir.
Eric, could you provide your .xastir directory before the move. THis will help me reproduce your problem, and hopefully close this bug.
Created attachment 307288 [details] My .xastir folder
See new attachment.
Sorry for late reply but I am unable to reproduce this based the directory you provided. Copying this directory over my current install will not render maps but as soon as I go to Map -> Map Cooser, select Online/tigermap.geo -> Properties, set Filled, Automaps, USGS DRG to yes will result in tigermap rendered corectly, which leads me to think there was a misconfiguration in your home dir. Please try if you can reproduce this once again, if not I will close this bug as NEXTRELEASE. Thanks.
