Description Tim Wegener 2008-06-07 04:31:49 UTC
Description of problem:
After suspending a HP Compaq 6710b laptop via closing the lid, the system will
freeze completely when resuming. (Suspend via other means works fine.)

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
kernel-2.6.25.4-30.fc9.i686
(also same problem with earlier versions)

How reproducible:
Always.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. In Gnome Power Manager applet go to preferences for "On Batter Power"
2. Ensure that "WHen laptop lid is closed" is set to "Suspend"
3. Close lid.
4. Wait for computer to enter suspend mode (flashing power light, all other
lights off)
5. Wait a few seconds.
6. Open lid.
7. Press power button.

Actual results:
System freezes completely and screen is black. Only light on is the power light.
No disk activity. Unresponsive to Ctrl-Alt-F1 throught to Ctrl-Alt-F7,
Ctrl-Alt-Backspace, Ctrl-Alt-Delete. Have to turn laptop off and on again to get
system functioning again.

Expected results:
System returning to normal functional state after resuming from suspend.

Additional info:
Suspend via System->Shut Down->Suspends works fine.
Suspend via /usr/sbin/pm-suspend works fine.
Running under gnome.
A similar problem occurs on Fedora 8/KDE.
System is an HP Compaq 6710b laptop with Intel 3945ABG wireless and Intel 965
chipset and X3100 integrated graphics.

Comment 1 Tim Wegener 2009-01-03 02:04:34 UTC
This works fine in Fedora 10/GNOME. Closing.
