Description of problem: Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): dovecot-1.0.13-6.fc8 How reproducible: Dovecot sometimes crashes, or does not wake up with the rest of the system from hibernation. Attempting to restart the daemon manually fails: root@cow:/home/filip $ /etc/init.d/dovecot restart Stoppen van Dovecot Imap: [MISLUKT] Starten van Dovecot Imap: Fatal: Dovecot is already running with PID 2112 (read from /var/run/dovecot/master.pid) [MISLUKT] (mislukt =-> failed) Actual results: Dovecot does not restart, but rather prints an error message and quits. However, asking for the status: root@cow:/home/filip $ LC_ALL=en_US /etc/init.d/dovecot status dovecot is stopped leading one to think there would be a way to figure out that dovecot is not running and therefore restart it. Expected results: Dovecot should figure out that there's no dovecot process currently running and proceed. Additional info:
problem is in non-standard location of the pid file, but the correct path can be specified as a parameter in the init script
