The crash will happen every time a session is saved in which the plugin is active, or when kate exits if kate is set to save the session on exit. Save the current session Actual Results: Kate crashes when trying to save the session. The updated session is not saved. That is, when you restart kate, the Symbol Viewer plugin is not active. Expected Results: It should save the session. Additional info: If you save a session with a modified file, the edits are lost due to the crash.
Per upstream report http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=156559 this is a known issue and has been corrected in 4.1. Thanks for the report.
Will the fix be released as a fedora 9 update?
The plan is to release 4.1 as a F9 update once it's released, maybe we'll push a backported fix sooner.
What bugs me is that that fix is 4 months old and was never backported to 4.0, somehow the upstream process is broken there. :-/
