Red Hat Product Errata RHSA-2009:0225 0 normal SHIPPED_LIVE Important: Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.3 kernel security and bug fix update 2009-01-20 16:06:24 UTC

Description Andrew Hecox 2008-07-10 01:51:35 UTC
The divider= option is not documented in kernel-parameters.txt or elsewhere in
RHEL5's kernel docs. It should be. KB is here:

http://kbase.redhat.com/faq/FAQ_103_12581.shtm

suggested text would be something like:

divider= divide kernel HZ rate by given value.
                   format={0..10}

Comment 2 RHEL Program Management 2008-07-25 17:02:23 UTC
This request was evaluated by Red Hat Product Management for
inclusion, but this component is not scheduled to be updated in
the current Red Hat Enterprise Linux release. If you would like
this request to be reviewed for the next minor release, ask your
support representative to set the next rhel-x.y flag to "?".

Comment 3 Prarit Bhargava 2008-07-25 19:15:41 UTC
Requesting exception -- we're missing documentation on this kernel parameter.

P.

Comment 4 Chris Lalancette 2008-09-08 09:22:05 UTC
Yes, the text in comment #1 is perfectly fine, except for the fact that we technically support dividing up to 25. Attached patch adds this; prarit, should I post this to rhkernel-list?

Comment 7 RHEL Program Management 2008-09-17 14:52:42 UTC
This request was evaluated by Red Hat Product Management for inclusion in a Red
Hat Enterprise Linux maintenance release. Product Management has requested
further review of this request by Red Hat Engineering, for potential
inclusion in a Red Hat Enterprise Linux Update release for currently deployed
products. This request is not yet committed for inclusion in an Update
release.
