Description Daniel Malmgren 2008-07-12 12:10:25 UTC
Description of problem:
Every time I start amsn lately I get a requester telling me that 0.97.1 is
available for download. Haven't been able to get rid of it.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
0.97-4.fc9

Additional info:
At the bottom of the requester there's a checkbox saying "dontaskweek". One
could think that this means "don't ask me again this week" or something, but it
doesn't matter what I do with this checkbox, I get the same next start anyway.

I guess upgrading amsn in Fedora to 0.97.1 would get rid of this problem :-)

Hi,

Thanks for the report. I can't reproduce the problem myself, when I check the
box and close the window I don't get asked again for one week. There is a bug in
0.97.1 that will be fixed in 0.97.2 so I will wait for that with updating the
Fedora version. The reason that 0.97.1 was released is already backported to the
0.97-4.fc9 version.
You can always turn of automatic updates checking in Advanced Preferences under
Others "Automatically check for newer versions on startup". Maybe that should be
unchecked by default on the Fedora package, what do you think?

That makes sense, since that feature isn't usable anyway if you want to use
Fedoras packages.

Strange thing though is that even after I uncheck that option I get that darn
requester when starting amsn the next time. Like amsn doesn't really care what I
want. And it's the same thing on two different computers here, so it's not only
this one. Strangeness...

0.97.2 is out now. Update for Fedora 8 too?

Comment 4 Sander Hoentjen 2008-08-06 18:38:37 UTC
I will do both as soon as I can, not sure when that is though. I am in the process of moving and only have little internet access for the next 10 days.

Comment 5 Fedora Update System 2008-08-06 19:59:14 UTC
amsn-0.97.2-1.fc9 has been submitted as an update for Fedora 9

Comment 6 Daniel Malmgren 2008-08-07 16:25:39 UTC
This is (obviously) fixed in 0.97.2-1. Should I close the bug or wait 'til it's in updates?

Wait till it is in updates, and it will be closed by me. Thanks for the feedback, I didn't have much time to test myself.
