Description Mathieu Bridon 2008-08-17 19:28:14 UTC
Description of problem:
The horizontal size of the calendar applet depends on the width of the labels displayed in it. If a label is too long, the calendar applet goes out of screen.

See attached screenshots:
- good.jpg: shows the calendar applet displayed entorely in the screen, no problem.
- bad.jpg: shows the calendar applet with the "anniversary" label. This label, translated in french is rather long. Instead of starting more on the left to remain entirely on screen, the applet starts at the same position, and thus goes out of the screen.
- bad-1.jpg is another example with the "anniversary" label but the widget is expanded this time. The whole looks even worse.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
gnome-panel-2.22.2-2.fc9.x86_64

How reproducible:
Always

Steps to Reproduce:
* Try adding a long label in the calendar applet. For example (should happen for other languages / labels):
1. Set the language to French
2. Go to a day which is the anniversary of one of your contacts

Actual results:
The calendar is out of screen.

Expected results:
The calendar should start more on the left, so it ca still be entirely on screen, even if it is longer than usual.

Additional info:
I set the "component" field to gnome-panel as it seems like it is the package providing the clock applet. Hope I wasn't wrong here.

Behaviour shown in attachment 314448 [details] is fixed in F10.

Behaviour shown in attachment 314450 [details] is still present and needs fixing.

Moving the « Version » to Fedora 10.

Woops...

The incorrect behaviour still present in F10 is the one shown in attachment 314449 [details].

Sorry about the spam.

My F10 is fully up to date as of now.

This message is a reminder that Fedora 11 is nearing its end of life.
Approximately 30 (thirty) days from now Fedora will stop maintaining
and issuing updates for Fedora 11. It is Fedora's policy to close all
bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time
this bug will be closed as WONTFIX if it remains open with a Fedora
'version' of '11'.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version'
to a later Fedora version prior to Fedora 11's end of life.

Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that
we may not be able to fix it before Fedora 11 is end of life. If you
would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it
against a later version of Fedora please change the 'version' of this
bug to the applicable version. If you are unable to change the version,
please add a comment here and someone will do it for you.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's
lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a
more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes
bugs or makes them obsolete.

The process we are following is described here:
http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/BugZappers/HouseKeeping

Comment 10 Bug Zapper 2010-12-05 07:08:46 UTC
Fedora 12 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2010-12-02. Fedora 12 is
no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further
security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug.

If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of
Fedora please feel free to reopen this bug against that version.

Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.
