Kudos for using ngettext, but the one string in anaconda is a bit of a complicated case, as it has two numbers in it the translated sentence will depend on both in many languages [1]. Would it be possible to beak up the string into two so ngettext can be used for each number separately? Something like: msgid_plural "%d optional packages" #. TRANSLATORS: %s is substituted by the string above msgid_plural "%d of %s selected" [1] https://www.redhat.com/archives/fedora-trans-list/2008-August/msg00059.html
What if we changed the string to be something along the lines of: Optional packages selected: %d/%d Then you don't even need to worry about the plural case, do you?
That could be an easy way out too. In that case "%d of %d" should work just as well.
Thanks for the tip, committed and pushed. We should be rebuilding the .pot file sometime soon.
