Description jotronic 2008-10-05 08:44:11 UTC
The Fedora 10 beta livecd refuses to start X on a system with a VIA VX800U (0x1122) Chipset/ GPU, but Fedora 9 doesn't start either.

Comment 1 Adam Jackson 2008-10-07 15:57:55 UTC
How does it fail? Can you provide an X log from the failed startup?

Comment 2 jotronic 2008-10-07 18:24:16 UTC

I am not sure if this helps, but this in the Xorg.conf from the installed OS on my device.

Modeline "800x480" 29.58 800 816 896 992 480 481 484 497

or maybe this helps: http://a110wiki.de/wiki/LCD

Comment 3 Jon Nettleton 2008-11-07 17:00:54 UTC
This should be all set in openchrome trunk. Should be pushed to rawhide this weekend.

Comment 4 Bug Zapper 2008-11-26 03:34:01 UTC
This bug appears to have been reported against 'rawhide' during the Fedora 10 development cycle.
Changing version to '10'.

More information and reason for this action is here:

Comment 5 Eric moreau 2009-03-17 17:39:04 UTC
When I installed F10 on an Acer Aspire laptop with a KM400 chipset
the problem was that it did not recognized the laptop LCD panel
and used the default monitor settings.
I had to specificy a wider HorizSync in xorg.conf (as i remember, up to 70kHz).

BUT: somewhere last week I updated the system
to the latest openchrome driver and altough it did recognized the panel,
it doesn't want to work anymore. I had to use fbdev.
I tried some modeline tweaking but it did not work.
It keeps telling me that there are no valid video mode.
One of the Via driver function keeps failing.

I don't have the log file here, i will try to upload it later tonight,
along with the Aspire model (I think it is a 3500)

Comment 6 Eric moreau 2009-03-21 02:13:52 UTC
Ok, it's an Acer Aspire 1350, not 3500

Comment 9 Bug Zapper 2009-11-18 07:55:57 UTC
This message is a reminder that Fedora 10 is nearing its end of life.
Approximately 30 (thirty) days from now Fedora will stop maintaining
and issuing updates for Fedora 10. It is Fedora's policy to close all
bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time
this bug will be closed as WONTFIX if it remains open with a Fedora
'version' of '10'.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version'
to a later Fedora version prior to Fedora 10's end of life.

Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that
we may not be able to fix it before Fedora 10 is end of life. If you
would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it
against a later version of Fedora please change the 'version' of this
bug to the applicable version. If you are unable to change the version,
please add a comment here and someone will do it for you.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's
lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a
more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes
bugs or makes them obsolete.

The process we are following is described here:
http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/BugZappers/HouseKeeping

Here is the problem. We are setting the panel size wrong. I was just debugging this for the XO 1.5. Can you help debug by adding

Option "PanelSize" "1024x768"

To the Device section of your xorg.conf and post your Xorg log here.

Comment 11 Bug Zapper 2009-12-18 06:30:36 UTC
Fedora 10 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2009-12-17. Fedora 10 is
no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further
security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug.

If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of
Fedora please feel free to reopen this bug against that version.

Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.
