Description mark cox 2008-10-09 11:43:25 UTC
Description of problem:
There is a step missing in the following section.
23.3.2.2. Basic Postfix Configuration

After the line below, there should be an additional line

Existing line
# "Uncomment the inet_interfaces = all line."

Insert this line.

# "Comment the inet_interfaces = localhost line."

Existing line

# "Restart the postfix service."

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

How reproducible:
Easy.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Follow the steps in "23.3.2.2. Basic Postfix Configuration" which a fresh install.
2. try to connect from a remote host to port 25.

Actual results:
The inet_interfaces = localhost line takes precedent of the inet_interfaces = all line. You can not connect to the postfix service remotely.

Expected results:
You should be able to connect to the postfix servce remotely.

Thanks Mark. Fixed in 5.4, rev. 21600.

Comment 2 Douglas Silas 2009-09-03 18:25:37 UTC
This is fixed in 5.4, I have verified, though it did not make it into the current redhat.com/docs online book for the 5.4 update for some reason.

I will attempt to update it soon. Keeping open.
