Red Hat Bugzilla – Bug 466239
instructions for allowing remote hosts to connect to postfix don't work.
Last modified: 2016-06-17 17:14:27 EDT
Description of problem:
There is a step missing in the following section.
126.96.36.199. Basic Postfix Configuration
After the line below, there should be an additional line
# "Uncomment the inet_interfaces = all line."
Insert this line.
# "Comment the inet_interfaces = localhost line."
# "Restart the postfix service."
Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Follow the steps in "188.8.131.52. Basic Postfix Configuration" which a fresh install.
2. try to connect from a remote host to port 25.
The inet_interfaces = localhost line takes precedent of the inet_interfaces = all line. You can not connect to the postfix service remotely.
You should be able to connect to the postfix servce remotely.
Thanks Mark. Fixed in 5.4, rev. 21600.
This is fixed in 5.4, I have verified, though it did not make it into the current redhat.com/docs online book for the 5.4 update for some reason.
I will attempt to update it soon. Keeping open.
Verified in rev 7
