Description Costas Piliotis 2008-10-24 16:16:14 UTC
Description of problem:
According to this thread in the OOo forums I need to report this bug here:
http://user.services.openoffice.org/en/forum/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=10254

I'm getting a OOo has crashed! on startup of all OOo apps - writer, calc, base, impress.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
openoffice.org-core-2.4.1-17.6.fc9-i386

How reproducible:
I'm not sure if this is relevant, but I installed F9 with KDE first. I've since migrated to Gnome and removed any trace of KDE and Qt.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install OOo Writer
2. Run Writer
3. ???
4. Epic Fail?

Actual results:
OOo has crashed! Bug Report:

Expected results:
Writer or Calc or Impress or Base actually start up.

Additional info:
I've tried searching around for solutions and am not sure what part of that dump report I should be using to do my search :). Also tried installing OpenOffice.org3 from the RPM's supplied on their site and get similar results. When I try to fire swriter from shell I get:
X-Error: BadRequest (invalid request code or no such operation)
	Major opcode: 154
	Minor opcode: 19
	Resource ID: 0x2a00001
	Serial No: 106 (106)
These errors are reported asynchronously,
set environment variable SAL_SYNCHRONIZE to 1 to help debugging

Comment 1 Caolan McNamara 2008-10-24 22:49:24 UTC
You have a crash in some opengl related function, that the application is OOo which crashes is almost certainly just pot-luck because it uses opengl.

So, try running e.g. glxgears and see if that succeeds or fails with a similar message

Comment 2 Costas Piliotis 2008-10-25 00:25:35 UTC
Yeah glxgears didn't start properly...

Actually we should close this ticket - I'm reinstalling. @#$%! ATI Drivers... They hooped X and after a reboot I found that X would throw a Sig 11... Given the two problems, a reinstall is probably in order.

Thanks for responding to my ticket - do I need to close this?

Comment 3 Matěj Cepl 2008-10-25 22:21:34 UTC
Hi, if the reinstallation won't rehlp, we have reviewed the information you have provided above, and there is some additional information we require that will be helpful in our diagnosis of this issue.

Please attach your X server config file (/etc/X11/xorg.conf) and X server log file (/var/log/Xorg.*.log) to the bug report as individual uncompressed file attachments using the bugzilla file attachment link below.

Could you please also try to run without any /etc/X11/xorg.conf whatsoever and let X11 autodetect your display and video card? Attach to this bug /var/log/Xorg.0.log from this attempt as well, please.

We will review this issue again once you've had a chance to attach this information.

Thanks in advance.

Comment 4 Matěj Cepl 2008-11-24 16:16:34 UTC
Reporter, could you please reply to the previous question? If you won't reply in one month, I will have to close this bug as INSUFFICIENT_DATA. Thank you.

Comment 5 Costas Piliotis 2008-11-24 16:59:58 UTC
No reinstallation of everything worked actually - sorry I didn't get back to report on the case.

I found it to be a bug with ATI's drivers - they don't yet support Fedora 9 and after installing them I hadn't restarted X. Upon restarting X was unable to get into X so rather than mess around with it any more I've reinstalled and am going to stay far away from those stupid ATI drivers from now...

Thanks very much for your help...

Comment 6 Matěj Cepl 2008-11-25 01:23:25 UTC
OK, blaming fglrx and closing as CANTFIX
