Description of problem: When installing openoffice.org-writer, it is set to open PDF-files, but these files won't show properly in OO-writer. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): OpenOffice.org 3.0.0-9.6.fc10 How reproducible: Every time. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install the package openoffice.org-writer (No need to if you already have it installed) 2. Get your hands on a PDF-file. For instance this one: http://www.lsuagcenter.com/NR/rdonlyres/62B31DD2-6EBD-447B-AC71-5615F17842A8/17665/71753BedroomHousewithEmergencyShelter1.pdf 3. Try opening the file from Nautilus. (Opening it from within Firefix works well.) Actual results: The results will look somewhat like this: http://picasaweb.google.com/assteve/Fedora#5262226691175645890 Expected results: The result should be a drawing of a 3 bedroom house, more or less like this: http://picasaweb.google.com/assteve/Fedora#5262226701171509474 Additional info: The house drawing is grabbed from this site: http://www.lsuagcenter.com/en/our_offices/departments/Biological_Ag_Engineering/Features/Extension/Building_Plans/residential/3_br/Three+Bedroom+House+with+Emergency+Shelter.htm
"When installing openoffice.org-writer, it is set to open PDF-files" It shouldn't be, and it isn't here locally, and I don't see any pdf entry in /usr/share/applications/openoffice*desktop. Though openoffice.org draw does have the ability to import .pdf as drawings, but your image is simply of writer after opening the .pdf as raw text. You say "Try opening the file from Nautilus.". So you simply double click on a .pdf file in nautilis and it opens in writer ?. When you right click on it what options are listed ? What I have, and what I would expect is for it to open in evince and that writer is not listed in the applications on right click that can open it.
It seems like it was an issue that remained in my system from an older installation. I tried creating a new user and the file opened with the proper reader. So it's not a bug after all. Sorry about that.
