ACL isn't the right component. Changing to s-c-soundcard for now, but the problem could be in yet another component, like kernel or hal. Please have s-c-soundcard generate /root/scsconfig.log and attach it.

Could you try RHEL 5.4 test kernels from bug#483594 ?
