Description Christian Krause 2008-11-19 15:26:04 UTC
Description of problem:
When starting monodevelop, the following error message is printed:

Assembly not found: gnome-sharp, Version=2.20.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=35e10195dab3c99f
WARNING: [MonoDevelop.GnomePlatform,1.9.0] Could not load some add-in assemblies: The classes in the module cannot be loaded.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
monodevelop-1.9-6.fc10

How reproducible:
100%

Steps to Reproduce:
1. install monodevelop
2. start it

Actual results:
- the error message above (or a similar one, depending on the status of the add-in registry)
- no "GNOME Platform Support" addin available (can be checked in the Add-in Manager)

Expected results:
- no error message, "GNOME Platform Support" available

Additional info:
- the reason is, that the MonoDevelop.GnomePlatform addin looks explicitly for gnome-sharp with the version 2.20.0.0, but the current versino is 2.24.0.0

Solution:
- recompiling the existing monodevelop package solves the problem

I can confirm this problem.

Anoying :)

Comment 2 Bug Zapper 2008-11-26 05:36:38 UTC
This bug appears to have been reported against 'rawhide' during the Fedora 10 development cycle.
Changing version to '10'.

I'll rebuild this today

Comment 4 Fabian Deutsch 2008-12-02 17:46:02 UTC
Any news on this bug?
I'm just using the F10 build, the bug is still present.

Comment 5 Christian Krause 2008-12-07 16:50:18 UTC
I've just checked http://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/packageinfo?packageID=2563 and unfortunately there is no build for F10 scheduled so far. Is there anything I can do to help to solve this bug?

Comment 6 Paul F. Johnson 2008-12-08 10:42:06 UTC
Can you tell me which versions of

1. gnome-sharp
2. gnome-desktop-sharp
3. gtk-sharp2
4. mono-addins

you have installed please? I'm trying to trace the cause of this. I'm rebuilding it now though.

Sure, no problem:

rpm -q gnome-sharp gnome-desktop-sharp gtk-sharp2 mono-addins
gnome-sharp-2.24.0-1.fc10.i386
gnome-desktop-sharp-2.24.0-3.fc10.i386
gtk-sharp2-2.12.4-1.fc10.i386
mono-addins-0.3.1-2.2.fc10.i386

Ok, great, thanks.

Finally there is a succesfull build.
To test a not released rpm, look at:
http://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/taskinfo?taskID=1006092

There are links to several rpms. Which can be installed on (at least) F9 fine. But there is an error, which says that some Designer addin can not be found.

Comment 11 Ronald Wahl 2009-01-01 22:52:48 UTC
There is no rebuild of the monodevelop package for Fedora 10 in Koji (only some newer pre Versions in Rawhide). It's now over a month since this was reported and if the solution is just a rebuild I do not understand why this takes so long to actually trigger a rebuild of the F10 package.

Comment 12 Fabian Deutsch 2009-02-10 16:30:30 UTC
Just a second ago I ran:
# yum --enablerepo=rawhide update monodevelop mono-addins

Removed all old entires in ~/.config/{monodevelop,stetic}

And started monodevelop. It starts cleanly and I can reopen my for 68 days untouched projects.

Comment 13 Christian Krause 2009-03-11 22:33:16 UTC
I've tried to build monodevelop from the most recent F-10 CVS, but unfortunately it looks like that the latest patch broke the X86_64 build:

https://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/taskinfo?taskID=1237460

I've fixed the problem with the attached patch and started successfully a new scratch build:
