Description of problem: For some reason glitz was not installed by anaconda when I selected cairo-dock for installation. I had to install glitz post-install to get cairo-dock to work. Reading the requires for cairo-dock ( Requires: libglitz.so.1()(64bit) ) it should have pulled it down. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): cairo-dock-1.6.3.1-1.fc10.x86_64 How reproducible: Always. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Select cairo-dock at install time. Actual results: cairo-dock will not start post-install, needing to install glitz Expected results: cairo-dock works Additional info: I ran the install with the x86_64 F10 Updates repo enabled, have not check to see if any updates have come out that might have broken this, or something along those lines.
Well, I cannot guess what is happening here for now. anaconda team, help?
Can you attach /var/log/anaconda.log?
Created attachment 325933 [details] Anaconda Log
glitz is not listed as a dependency for cairo-dock, just glitz-glx. It should probably be added to cairo-dock spec file? +Requires: glitz
If you're still seeing this issue in F12 alpha, could you please attach /tmp/yum.log to this bug report? We should have much better visibility on what's happening with these sorts of bugs now. Thanks.
<snap> [joel@dhcp-lab-139 Misc]$ repoquery whatprovides libglitz.so.1 [joel@dhcp-lab-139 Misc]$ repoquery whatprovides libglitz [joel@dhcp-lab-139 Misc]$ repoquery whatprovides glitz glitz-0:0.5.6-7.fc11.x86_64 glitz-0:0.5.6-7.fc11.i586 [joel@dhcp-lab-139 Misc]$ </snap> The package should require glitz like comment #4 states. reassigning.
(In reply to comment #6) > <snap> > [joel@dhcp-lab-139 Misc]$ repoquery whatprovides libglitz.so.1 This won't work if you're on 64 bit.
Please add: Requires: glitz
You can always conditionalize Requires based on arch.
This message is a reminder that Fedora 10 is nearing its end of life. Approximately 30 (thirty) days from now Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 10. It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time this bug will be closed as WONTFIX if it remains open with a Fedora 'version' of '10'. Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version prior to Fedora 10's end of life. Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we may not be able to fix it before Fedora 10 is end of life. If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Fedora please change the 'version' of this bug to the applicable version. If you are unable to change the version, please add a comment here and someone will do it for you. Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete. The process we are following is described here: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/BugZappers/HouseKeeping
Was this ever resolved? I think the solution here is to add glitz as a requires to cairo-dock. If it's detected automatically, specified manually, or both is fine. You don't have to do one or the other. As the owner of "glitz" there isn't much I can do to resolve this problem.
As F-10 updates request is closed, closing this bug anyway.
