Description Russell Doty 2008-12-11 22:40:43 UTC
Description of problem:

Can't update system - "Failed to update package lists"

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

Fedora 10

How reproducible:

Every time

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install F10
2. "install all updates" when the system updater first runs
3. Reboot system
4. Select System --> Administration --> Update System
5. Choose refresh

Actual results:

Failed to update package lists

failed to get a TID: A security policy in place prevents this sender from sending this message to this recipient, see message bus configuration file (rejected message had interface "org.freedesktop.PackageKit.Transaction" member "SetLocale" error name "(unset)" destination "org.freedesktop.PackageKit") (0)

"Update System" button is greyed out.

Expected results:

Get a refreshed package list. Update system if any new packages.

Additional info:

SELinux in permissive mode.

This was likely due to a recent dbus update that broke a lot of policies.
Please yum update from the command line and ensure that you have all the
updates as of today installed.
