Description tedtheologian 2009-03-09 03:03:15 UTC
Bluez 4.27 is the last bluez that works correctly as a service with skype.

I have been using skype with bluez bluetooth service fine with my h550
motorola headset. After 4.27 on any new versions of bluez up to 4.32, when I call I hear the headset activating but I get no sound
coming or going(or maybe they can hear me, I don't know, but I can't
hear them), but I do hear a short sound when I click hang up.

mplayer -ao alsa:device=bluetoothh550 skypering.wav

That still plays a sound fine through my headset.

I'm currently using this configuration, just like from 4.27.

pcm.bluetoothh550 {
  type bluetooth
  device 00:1A:0E:08:03:90 # h550
  profile "voice"
}

2 things to get from that:
1) We can't easily debug proprietary applications
2) Bluetooth audio was known to be broken/break easily with ALSA

Feel free to try the new support in F11, through PulseAudio:
