ssmtp is slow.

Actual results:

real	0m12.644s
user	0m0.040s
sys	0m0.044s


Expected results:

real	0m1.852s
user	0m0.036s
sys	0m0.024s

Additional info:

This issue is related to a 1 second delay introduced by ssmtp-2.61.6.patch

The attached patch shortens this delay to 50 milliseconds, effectively restoring ssmtp to its expected performance level.

I am sorry but I am going to stick with upstream's defaults. Please post your patch at http://www.debian.org/Bugs/ and if it gets accepted I'll be happy to integrate it as well.
