Created attachment 337628 [details] X server log Description of problem: While VTs work fine after a cold boot, sometimes the redraw stops working, ie. VTs only show their last content or the last image from plymouth startup graphics. The VTs still work, ie. you can switch back to X and you can log in blind into the tty. I describe the steps proposed by fcami on IRC. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): kernel-2.6.29.1-35.rc1.fc11.i586 xorg-x11-drv-ati-6.12.1-2.fc11.i586 libdrm-2.4.5-3.fc11.i586 mesa-libGL-7.5-0.6.fc11.i586 How reproducible: often. Multihead scenario and resume seem to trigger it regularily. Steps to Reproduce: 1. cold startup with KMS enabled, multihead setup (LVDS + Samsung DLP TV via DVI) 2. login as test user 3. start openarena in 1024x768 mode 4. quit openarena 5. start openarena again 6. quit openarena Actual results: Switching to non-X VT now shows old contents, i.e. they are not redrawn when you press ENTER to get a clean login prompt Expected results: working VTs :-) Additional info: Smolt profile attached as URL

Thanks for the complete bug report and logs. Switching Severity to high (this should not happen at all). Dave, this looks like the refresh bug we've been talking about. --- Fedora Bugzappers volunteer triage team https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/BugZappers
I did a quick test with the latest versions: kernel-2.6.29.1-54.fc11.i586 xorg-x11-drv-ati-6.12.1-8.fc11.i586 The problem seems to be gone.
Thank you Stefan. I'm going to close it, please feel free to reopen if needed. --- Fedora Bugzappers volunteer triage team https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/BugZappers
