Description of problem:
With last R update, R-core drag in as requirements two new packages: vim-common (7 MB) and vim-enhanced (908 KB). I think that requiring just vi (i.e. vim-minimal package) instead of vim would be enough.

Solution: s/vim/vi in the Requires: section of "%package core" in R.spec
