Xorg.1.log

Description of problem:

After today's update to 1.6.1-11.fc11 I noticed that after restart X won't start and the display is being turned on/off randomly. Reverting those two packages to -1.6.1-7.fc11.x86_64 solved the problem.

It happened with nouveau and vesa.

When I booted to init 3 and started X manually, they crashed with backtrace, very similar to the one here: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=496504#c2 but not 100 % the same. It's not in the logs, so, I am not able to provide it.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

Linux dhcp-lab-124.englab.brq.redhat.com 2.6.29.2-126.fc11.x86_64 #1 SMP Mon May 4 04:46:15 EDT 2009 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

xorg-x11-server-{Xorg,common}-1.6.1-11.fc11

How reproducible:

always

I'm experiencing the exact same issue on my laptop after today's updates. I'm attaching my /var/log/messages, Xorg.0.log, and &> output of startx as root after booting into init 3.

-12 from Koji does *not* fix this for me (and now that I re-read the changelog, I'm not sure why I got my hopes up; it's just a fix for an unrelated warning).

Comment 6 Thierry Mallard 2009-05-08 06:54:05 UTC
Quite possibly the same problem here : after the 20090507 updates, reaching Xorg at boot time shows nothing, and the keyboard & mouse (both USB) are not responding.

I had to boot with the "single" option, then going to runlevel 3, installed the "nvidia" driver instead of the "nouveau", and then got Xorg back.

Comment 7 Remi Collet 2009-05-08 15:27:44 UTC
Same problem here with :

xorg-x11-drv-nouveau-0.0.12-33.20090501gitf69b34a.fc11.x86_64
xorg-x11-server-Xorg-1.6.1-11.fc11.x86_64

Revert to previous works :

xorg-x11-server-Xorg-1.6.1-6.fc11.x86_64

Comment 8 Remi Collet 2009-05-08 15:36:26 UTC
All works again with lastest updates from koji :

xorg-x11-server-Xorg-1.6.1-12.fc11.x86_64
xorg-x11-drv-nouveau-0.0.12-35.20090507git1072103.fc11.x86_64
