Description Gerry Reno 2009-05-18 17:30:05 UTC
Description of problem:
Now the F9 preupgrade has lost all choices in the preupgrade list. The only thing available is if you check the checkbox and then it shows Rawhide as the only choice. Is this a bug/problem? Can you really go direct from F9 to Rawhide?

No, this is correct. There are bugs in F10 which make it unsuitable for preupgrade, so it's not listed. F11 hasn't been released yet, so it's also not listed. And yes, you can preupgrade straight from F9 to F11 (or Rawhide).

If you're willing to help final testing, please install preupgrade-1.1.0:
  yum --enablerepo=updates-testing upgrade preupgrade
and preupgrade to Rawhide. File bugs if anything goes wrong with the process (other than "Finishing upgrade..." taking a long time, which we can't really do anything about).

Otherwise, just wait for F11 to be released.

We already did an anaconda upgrade today on these machines to F10. If we have any others I'll try to test the new preupgrade.

As far as the "Finishing upgrade..." delay. I would be good if there were some kind of periodic status. Something like processed 470/945 packages. Just so users would know the installer isn't hung.
