The KVM modules available in the kmod-kvm package are loaded automatically at boot time if the kmod-kvm package is installed. To make these KVM modules available after installing the kmod-kvm package the system either needs to be rebooted or the modules can be loaded manually by running the /etc/sysconfig/modules/kvm.modules script.

Description Eduardo Habkost 2009-05-19 17:17:03 UTC
+++ This bug was initially created as a clone of Bug #489947 +++

The kvm package installs a /etc/sysconfig/modules/kvm.modules file, to load the KVM modules on boot. We should do that on %post also, so the modules are loaded automatically without rebooting the machine.

Comment 2 Eduardo Habkost 2009-06-04 16:27:15 UTC
A better fix would be making the kmodtool script used by the many kmod packages able to handle loading of the modules at RPM-install time, instead of making a kvm-specific fix.
