Description of problem: I start evolution up. data-server and exchange storage start. Evolution fails to show on the desktop, but if I run the gnome-system-monitor, all the evolution bits have started. Kill the exchange-storage part and evolution appears on the desktop. If I start another copy of evolution up, I get a white full screen window. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): evolution-2.26.1-1 evolution-exchange-2.26.1-1 How reproducible: Very frequently Steps to Reproduce: 1. Ensure you have an exchange server for ev to connect to 2. Start ev 3. Actual results: Nothing appears on the desktop, start the gnome-system-monitor, kill evolution-exchange-storage and evolution starts Expected results: Evolution starts Additional info: This problem happens quite a lot and ev can be fooled into starting by killing anything that starts with evolution and restarting. Nothing appears if evolution is run from a terminal window
Can you try starting evolution-exchange-storage manually from a terminal (or better, GDB) and see if it's crashing or hanging or emitting any interesting looking warnings when Evolution starts up?
Nothing when you start up, but then comes up with ** (evolution-exchange-storage:21712): Warning **: :LDAP authentication failed (0xffffffff (Can't contact LDAP server)) this shouldn't prevent it from operating though
This bug appears to have been reported against 'rawhide' during the Fedora 11 development cycle. Changing version to '11'. More information and reason for this action is here: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/BugZappers/HouseKeeping
Can you try running evolution-exchange-storage under GDB and grab a backtrace when Evolution fails to start? Evolution is probably waiting for a response from the storage process, but it sounds like it's getting stuck on something.
This is a rawhide problem, not f11. It's working fine now so I'm closing the bug.
