Created attachment 347137 [details] dmesg output Description of problem: The trackpad on my Dell Mini 12 freezes every few minutes. Until I hit the power button, the trackpad won't move. After hitting the power button a new kernel log entry is listed (TouchPad at ... see Additional info) and the trackpad works again for a few minutes. Note that was an issue at one point with F10 but subsided after some kernel updates. Today I found that adding pci=noacpi to the kernel line seems to keep the issue from occurring.
Correction, it makes the issue occur less often.
I'm seeing this under F12 with a Dell D430 laptop. It seems related to sleep mode. I can have the laptop running for days on A/C with no problems, but put it to sleep (not hibernate) and wake it up and it feels like a 20-30% chance the thing will "freeze" within 10-60min. Most of the time I cannot fix it and nothing shows in syslog/dmesg. Xwindows shows the mouse still moves, but the keyboard doesn't work. However (just to contradict myself) *sometimes* Ctr-Alt-F2 works and I can tty-login. Normally I have to reboot to fix it, but sometimes while I'm fiddling the following appears in syslog and it starts working again kernel: psmouse.c: DualPoint TouchPad at isa0060/serio1/input0 lost synchronization, throwing 3 bytes away. kernel: psmouse.c: resync failed, issuing reconnect request I'm currently running 2.6.31.9-174.fc12.i686.PAE, but this has happened ever since installing F12 (I'm sure it happened LESS under F11 - but it happened there too). lsmod Module Size Used by vfat 8744 0 fat 41836 1 vfat usb_storage 47236 0 berry_charge 3768 0 ppdev 8200 0 parport_pc 22748 0 lp This message is a reminder that Fedora 11 is nearing its end of life. Approximately 30 (thirty) days from now Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 11. It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time this bug will be closed as WONTFIX if it remains open with a Fedora 'version' of '11'. Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version prior to Fedora 11's end of life. Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we may not be able to fix it before Fedora 11 is end of life. If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Fedora please change the 'version' of this bug to the applicable version. If you are unable to change the version, please add a comment here and someone will do it for you. Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete. The process we are following is described here: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/BugZappers/HouseKeeping
Fedora 11 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2010-06-25. Fedora 11 is no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug. If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of Fedora please feel free to reopen this bug against that version. Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.
