This is not a bug, or at least just a UI glitch ... hard-selection of encoding is not changed in UI, when Automatic selection is used (and hard-selection is ignored, when Automatic selection is on). Pushing UPSTREAM.
We filed this bug in the upstream database (https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=505248) and believe that it is more appropriate to let it be resolved upstream. Reporter, if you can still reproduce this issue with the latest Firefox from RHEL-5, could you pleae make a note in the upstream bugzilla and describe precisely how to reproduce this and what is the problem? Thank you
