Yes, we do know this. Updating is on my list but I may not be able to get to it soon. You're welcome to help us identify any issues we may have with pushing an update to F11.

Comment 2 Alastair D'Silva 2009-07-20 05:11:39 UTC
I did a preliminary quick and dirty hack on the .spec file, and was able to get it building with minimal changes to the patches.

If you like, I can clean up what I've done so far and attack it.

Comment 3 Jason Tibbitts 2009-07-20 05:24:13 UTC
You are more than welcome to do so; I spent a few minutes doing some of that but I'm happy to not have to do all of it.

Note that I'd have to know that an update to 1.24.2 will work without a zmupgrade call before it could be pushed to F-11. We can't push out upgrades that require admin intervention, and I'm not entirely sure it's safe to call zmupgrade in %post. The zoneminder forums indicate that there are some database changes in 1.24.2 but I don't yet know if things run without them.

Comment 4 Alastair D'Silva 2009-07-20 12:09:31 UTC
I have successfully run 1.24.2 against a database from 1.24.1. To confirm, I've reviewed the upgrade script - there are no structural changes.

The only thing of any significance are replacements of the preset capture modes. I presume the old ones will still work, but I have not got a local camera to test with (I'm running ZoneMinder in a VM with an IP camera).

scratch build for 1.24.2 on F-11: http://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/taskinfo?taskID=1487211
I believe I rebased the patches that needed it correctly. This does not include any additional Perl module dependencies.

I'll be testing this today without a zmupdate run and if it passes I'll go ahead and add the additional Perl deps, push it for rawhide and submit it to F-11 updates-testing. We'll still need to research whether we want to push it to F-11 updates; I'm generally reticent to do that although my understanding is that 1.24.2 fixes significant issues on 64-bit machines.

Comment 6 Jason Tibbitts 2009-07-20 17:56:50 UTC
Bah, never mind, that build is hosed and won't actually start.

Comment 7 Jason Tibbitts 2009-07-20 18:35:42 UTC
Looks like the build process for zmupdate.pl changed, so I tweaked the patches. This build appears to work:
  http://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/taskinfo?taskID=1487329

however, I'm finding that things aren't working so well after updating to this package; my zones don't seem to go into alarm properly and the navigation controls on the event view aren't working. The latter may be a mootools issue, though; I'll try with 1.2.1 instead of 1.2.3.

Comment 8 Jason Tibbitts 2009-07-20 18:51:22 UTC
Going back to mootools 1.2 makes the preview in the timeline view work again, but nothing seems to help the navigation buttons so I'm at a loss. I'm going back to 1.24.1 on my server until I can figure this out, even though it has other weird problems.

Comment 10 Jason Tibbitts 2009-07-22 20:37:09 UTC
I ended up figuring out the issues and have been running an updated package for the past couple of days on my main camera server with no issues. I went ahead and committed the updated package to rawhide and F-11 and pushed an update to F-11 updates-testing. Please test.

Comment 11 Alastair D'Silva 2009-07-22 23:11:34 UTC
Great work guys, thanks.

Comment 13 Martin Ebourne 2009-08-26 20:00:06 UTC
Jason, I've been using this for a month now both through the web and with the mythtv plugin. I didn't upgrade my database at all. Everything seems fine and I'm happy to push this to stable - do you agree?

Comment 14 Jason Tibbitts 2009-08-26 20:13:36 UTC
At this point I don't see any reason not to do so. It would be nice, however, if the folks who tested this would comment on the update ticket.

Comment 15 Alastair D'Silva 2009-08-26 23:49:05 UTC
It works fine for me, however, I am using a somewhat butchered version, as my cameras require FFMPEG to work with Zoneminder, so this may invalidate my results.
