Description Corentin Perard-Gayot 2009-07-25 18:59:22 UTC
Description of problem:

I just noticed this problem today : imsettings package is not in the Input Method group, resulting in it being installed even when input methods group is unselected during install in anaconda... thus, imsettings-start is launched when opening a new gnome session, but is useless.
Another consequence of this is that the package isn't uninstalled when performing a yum groupremove "Input Methods"

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

imsettings-libs-0.106.2-2.fc11.i586
imsettings-0.106.2-2.fc11.i586

How reproducible:
always

Steps to Reproduce:
see above

Actual results:

Sure. as you aware of, this is useless in the standalone use. and basically this package is pulled in by other packages' dependency. thus, having that installed on your system would means any packages installed there requires it. and probably something also installed that is useless for you. you may want to file an another bug for that I guess. what happens when you are going to remove imsettings directly?

That makes sense. I'll update comps then.

I did a test install of F11 with @input-methods unchecked
and ibus, ibus-gtk and hence im-chooser and imsettings got
installed.

install.log

default English F11 i386 install log just with Input Methods unchecked

... and nothing seems to require them.

Added imsettings to Input Methods group in comps. groupremove should works at least.

probably there may be similar issue in ibus as well? I guess deselecting would similarly works as yum-groupremoving. so there may be no way of marking packages not listed in any groups?

Anyway better filing another bug for that I suppose. closing.
