Description Dean Nelson 2009-07-28 15:12:42 UTC
Description of problem:

PCI drivers that implement the struct pci_error_handlers' error_detected
callback should return PCI_ERS_RESULT_DISCONNECT if the state passed in is
pci_channel_io_perm_failure. The igb network driver does not do this.

Additional info:

The solution will be to backport an upstream commit authored by
Alexander Duyck <alexander.h.duyck>. See the following URL for details.

My test kernel rpms have been updated to include a patch for this bugzilla.

http://people.redhat.com/dnelson/#rhel5

Please test them and report back your results. Without immediate feedback
there is a good chance this or any other fix for this driver will not be
included in the upcoming update.

Comment 2 RHEL Program Management 2009-09-25 17:42:13 UTC

release.

Needs to be in MODIFIED to get added to the errata, at which point, the errata tool will flip it to ON_QA. Just need that 5.5+ flag (and maybe the exception flag+, not sure) and I can add it.
