If you install prboom, run it, and select to start a new game (without changing anything), it will dump straight back to console with a 'signal 8' error. Happens in both regular rendering and OpenGL mode. Someone's also seeing this on Ubuntu:

Confirmed fedora 11 i386, get SIGNAL 8 when starting new game.

This bug appears to have been reported against 'rawhide' during the Fedora 12 development cycle.
Changing version to '12'.

This seems to be the same issue :

for me, I got src rpm and I did : 

make distclean && ./configure --disable-i386-asm && make

which was the suggestion from the link above.
it seems to have fixed the problem for me.

I have Fedora 12.
