Description Ronald Wahl 2009-08-23 02:43:09 UTC

Small tool to move mouse cursor between screens on dual-head setup.

Description of problem:

On a dual screen setup (xinerama disabled) it is not possible to move the mouse cursor between screen using XTestFakeRelativeMotionEvent(). The screen argument seems to be ignored. It was working in Fedora 10 and earlier.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

xorg-x11-server-Xorg-1.6.1.901-1.fc11
xorg-x11-server-Xorg-1.6.3-4.fc11

How reproducible:

Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Setup dual head without xinerama
2. Compile attached dualmouse.c:

gcc -o dualmouse ~rpmbuild/SOURCES/dualmouse.c -lX11 -lXtst

3. Call ./dualmouse. This should warp the mouse cursor to the second screen and vice versa if doing the same on the other screen.

Actual results:

Mouse cursor remains on the same screen as the command was called.

Expected results:

Mouse cursor should be moved to the second screen.

Small correction: XTestFakeMotionEvent was meant (and not XTestFakeRelativeMotionEvent)

Solution found. See

http://digamma.cs.unm.edu/trac.dmohr/wiki/DualscreenMouseUtils

Obviously XWarpCursor has to be used since xorg 7.4.
