Description Michael E Brown 2009-08-30 01:06:31 UTC
Description of problem:

Complete system hang when you close the laptop lid. Upon closing the lid, the machine dies. No pingable, ssh sessions unresponsive. Upon opening lid, screen is black, sometimes with cursor. Happens with or without modesetting. System keyboard LEDs are not flashing (doesnt appear to be kernel panic).

The machine is a Dell D500 with Intell 855GM. The system has AC power and is set to "Blank Screen" on lid close (This is not a suspend problem.)

On restarting system, the following can be found in Xorg.1.log:

[mi] EQ overflowing. The server is probably stuck in an infinite loop.
