What is this module needed for?

Comment 2 John Reiser 2009-09-01 14:41:52 UTC
efibootmgr says that efivars is needed for repair and enhancement operations at the conclusion of an install onto a machine with EFI boot.

I have not been able boot *any* Fedora 11 (release) or Fedora 12 (Alpha) installs to an external FireWire drive on my Apple Macintosh Mini i686 only. Somehow the external drive is not fully connected to the boot logic and/or the EFI System Partition on the internal harddrive, and/or OpenFirmware in PROM. I tried to invoke efibootmgr to investigate and fix the problem, but efibootmgr complained that it couldn't find the right information, and suggested "modprobe efivars".

Comment 3 Chris Lumens 2009-09-01 16:18:01 UTC
There's no efivars.ko in any of the current kernel builds.
