Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): anaconda-12.17 How reproducible: always Steps to Reproduce: 1. boot DVD on machine with EFI boot (such as Apple Macintosh) 2. install until finished; switch to shell on VT2 3. modprobe efivars Actual results: module efivars not found Expected results: module efivars loaded Additional info:
What is this module needed for?
efibootmgr says that efivars is needed for repair and enhancement operations at the conclusion of an install onto a machine with EFI boot. I have not been able boot *any* Fedora 11 (release) or Fedora 12 (Alpha) installs to an external FireWire drive on my Apple Macintosh Mini i686 only. Somehow the external drive is not fully connected to the boot logic and/or the EFI System Partition on the internal harddrive, and/or OpenFirmware in PROM. I tried to invoke efibootmgr to investigate and fix the problem, but efibootmgr complained that it couldn't find the right information, and suggested "modprobe efivars".
There's no efivars.ko in any of the current kernel builds.
