Screen shot showing sensors-applet's memory usage

Description of problem:
The attached screen shot shows sensors-applet consuming nearly a gig of memory. In this instance, sensors-applet is being allowed to continue to throw up "Error updating sensor..." messages; the user is logged in on a machine different from the one the sensors applet was configured to monitor. So there may be some problem cleaning up after these messages.

Growth is relatively slow; it's taken several days (of throwing up errors every couple of seconds) to grow to this size.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
2.2.1-2

How reproducible:
Consistently.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Run sensors-applet configured to monitor a much of things that don't actually exist on the host machine; allow it to continue to throw up errors.
2. Wait.

Comment 1 Jason Smith 2009-09-09 11:12:41 UTC
This has already been fixed, several months ago in the upstream sources, version >= 2.2.2, see SF bug report:

http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&aid=2555807&group_id=128538&atid=711980

Can the Fedora packages be updated?

Comment 5 Braden McDaniel 2009-12-06 04:39:09 UTC
It's still leaking. It's gone from ~20 MB to ~60 MB resident over a few hours. It's throwing up notification windows ("Error updating sensor ...") every couple of seconds or so; so the leak probably has to do with those notifications.

Comment 6 Huzaifa S. Sidhpurwala 2009-12-07 04:44:35 UTC
Hi,
Can you try
https://admin.fedoraproject.org/updates/F11/FEDORA-2009-12141
and let me know if it still has memory leaks?

Comment 7 Braden McDaniel 2009-12-08 07:46:37 UTC
After running for a day with that update, sensors-applet is sitting on 233 MB resident; so it looks like it's still leaking.

Comment 8 Bug Zapper 2010-04-28 10:07:48 UTC
This message is a reminder that Fedora 11 is nearing its end of life.
Approximately 30 (thirty) days from now Fedora will stop maintaining
and issuing updates for Fedora 11. It is Fedora's policy to close all
bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time
this bug will be closed as WONTFIX if it remains open with a Fedora
'version' of '11'.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version'
to a later Fedora version prior to Fedora 11's end of life.

Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that
we may not be able to fix it before Fedora 11 is end of life. If you
would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it
against a later version of Fedora please change the 'version' of this
bug to the applicable version. If you are unable to change the version,
please add a comment here and someone will do it for you.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's
lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a
more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes
bugs or makes them obsolete.

The process we are following is described here:
http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/BugZappers/HouseKeeping

Comment 9 Bug Zapper 2010-06-28 14:26:37 UTC
Fedora 11 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2010-06-25. Fedora 11 is
no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further
security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug.

If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of
Fedora please feel free to reopen this bug against that version.

Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.
