xdotool allows sending fake keyboard events to specific windows using the "--window" parameter of the "key" command. However, this parameter is broken in the version currently offered by Fedora 11, namely xdotool 20090330. According to the developer, the bug was addressed in xdotool 20090710: http://www.semicomplete.com/blog/geekery/xdotool-20090710.html Quote: "* Bug fix: 'xdotool key --window' now works properly" As of this writing, the current version is xdotool 20090815. Please consider updating xdotool in Fedora 11 to at least version 20090710 to address this problem.
Please note that this bug prevents packaging xvkbd, as it requires that switch to work.
Actually that's not true, so disregard my above comment (Comment #1). ;-)
