Description of problem: There is no driver for the HP Photosmart 7450 printer available. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): Rawhide How reproducible: 100% Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install Fedora 12 Alpha and do a full update 2. Attach the HP Photosmart 7450 printer 3. The printer will be detected properly, but there is no driver available. The only drivers availble are for HP Photosmart 73** and 75**. Actual results: The printer is left unconfigured. Expected results: As in Fedora 11, the driver should be located and installed. Printing should then work as expected. Additional info:
Install the 'hpijs' package for the HP Photosmart 7400 Series driver. So that I have the information I need to be able to reproduce this here, please run the printing troubleshooter: System->Administration->Printing from the main menu, then Help->Troubleshoot from the menu bar. Attach the resulting troubleshoot.txt file to this bug report using the 'Add an attachment' link above. On the 'Choose Printer' screen, select 'Not listed', then select 'Locally connected printer' on the 'Printer Location' screen.
Hmm I feel a bit stupid here because with the package 'hpijs' installed, the Printer setup has no problem finding the driver. I don't know if the package did not exist before, or if the Printer setup is not able to ask me to install it when a driver from the package is requested... Anyway, the printer seems to be properly configured now. Sorry for the bad bug. BR Tom
Ideally of course it would try to install the hpijs package for you, but that code isn't ready yet. Would still be useful to see the troubleshoot.txt file, or at the very least the output of 'lpinfo -l -v' so I can see the device's Device ID.

Hi Tim Your command is my law. See the attached file. Let me know if there is anything else I can do to help out. BR Tom
Thanks, that's what I needed to see. So the 7450 identifies itself as a "7400 series", and that matches what the driver has. Great.
