Red Hat Bugzilla – Bug 526019
Screen brightness control doesn't work on Lenovo IdeaPad Y430
Last modified: 2009-09-28 18:53:51 EDT
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:126.96.36.199) Gecko/20090911 Fedora/3.5.3-1.fc12 Firefox/3.5.3
On Lenovo IdeaPad Y430 screen brightness can't be adjusted with Fn+Up/Down in GNOME and /proc/acpi/video/VGA/LCD/brightness reports <not supported>
Other stable operating system works fine including Windows XP, Windows 7 (build 7100), Mac OS X 10.5.6 (Hackintosh), Ubuntu 9.04, Fedora 10, Fedora 11
VESA on rawhide doesn't have this problem, but it runs along Fedora 11's NVIDIA kernel driver. On Fedora 11 this works with/without install any driver.
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Upgrade to Rawhide
2. Press fn+up
The brightness control shows and adjust screen's brightness control

Restarted the computer and the brightness control works.
