Red Hat Bugzilla – Bug 527997
Interoperation with Windows 7 and Windows 2008 (R2) broken
Last modified: 2011-01-13 17:44:33 EST
Description of problem: Various fixes for supporting Windows 7 and 2008 were added to the Samba upstream tree, including: * Fix for share access from Windows 7 Desktops to Samba servers running winbindd * Interdomain trusts with Windows 2008 based domains * Secure channel connections from Windows 2008 R2 servers The samba3x package needs to have these fixes in order to integrate with modern clients and servers. Therefor samba3x needs to be rebased on the latest Samba 3.3.x version (3.3.8) and it needs to have the new important Windows 7 and Windows 2008 fixes.
adding regressions keyword We introduced 3.3 also as a way to get compatibility with Windows 2008. We attained a great deal and even though some of the functionality this bug brings in is due to changes happened after we released the software I think users would expect them to work.
Technical note added. If any revisions are required, please edit the "Technical Notes" field accordingly. All revisions will be proofread by the Engineering Content Services team. New Contents: Interoperation with Windows 7 and Windows 2008 was fixed: Secure channel connections to Windows 2008 R2 servers and inter-domain trusts with Windows 2008 domains are now supported. Changes to the secure channel in Windows 7 and Windows 2008 R2, which caused the winbind daemon to corrupt the secure channel, are implemented.
