Created attachment 365159 [details] result from alsa-info.sh --no-upload Description of problem: Headphones never worked with F11 on my Intel DG33BU mobo. They worked just fine on F10. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): alsa-utils-1.0.21-2.fc11.x86_64 How reproducible: Always. Steps to Reproduce: 1. play any sound with any application 2. 3. Actual results: Sound plays just fine on speakers, but not on headphone. Expected results: Sound also plays on headphones. Additional info: This new report comes as a reply to comment #16 on bug #500418, since my chipset is different from the one on that report. More info can be obtained from my own comment #12 on that bug. I am passing 3stack-6ch-intel as model for snd-hda-intel on /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf, as suggested by line 161 from http://www.mjmwired.net/kernel/Documentation/sound/alsa/HD-Audio-Models.txt. I tried setting 2ch, 4ch and even 6ch with alsamixer -c0, but that didn't change anything. Problem still exists with latest stable kernel 2.6.30.8-64.fc11.x86_64.
Does model=auto change the behaviour? Is it any different (better or worse) without any model= parameter? If you can test with an F12 live CD and see how that goes, that would help too - find the latest one at http://alt.fedoraproject.org/pub/alt/nightly-composes/desktop/ , or just use the Beta when it comes out on Tuesday. Also, if you have the patience - and none of the model= suggestions listed above help - can you go through the whole list of possible model= parameters from that text file you linked to? It's possible one of them may improve the situation. I know it can be a bit of a pain to test, though. Thanks! (misc. note for Jaroslav - there's already an explicit quirk mapping this ID to 3st-6ch-intel: SND_PCI_QUIRK(0x8086, 0x0001, "DG33BUC", ALC883_3ST_6ch_INTEL) so perhaps there's some kind of actual bug/regression here, not just a required quirk...) -- Fedora Bugzappers volunteer triage team https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/BugZappers
Hi Adam, I'm happy to say your suggestion of trying model=auto worked like a charm =) (I had tried it in the past, it did not work by the time I commented on bug #500418, but I must confess I haven't tried this after I upgraded to the latest kernel). I am happily listening to rhythmbox as I type this =) Thks again for your suggestion. Should I mark it as "CLOSED - NOTABUG"?
Does the sound work without using any model= module parameter?
Hi Jaroslav, I just tested it, and without model=auto sound is a no go :-(
This message is a reminder that Fedora 11 is nearing its end of life. Approximately 30 (thirty) days from now Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 11. It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time this bug will be closed as WONTFIX if it remains open with a Fedora 'version' of '11'. Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version prior to Fedora 11's end of life. Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we may not be able to fix it before Fedora 11 is end of life. If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Fedora please change the 'version' of this bug to the applicable version. If you are unable to change the version, please add a comment here and someone will do it for you. Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete. The process we are following is described here: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/BugZappers/HouseKeeping
Fedora 11 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2010-06-25. Fedora 11 is no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug. If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of Fedora please feel free to reopen this bug against that version. Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.
