Description Michal Jaegermann 2009-10-22 20:37:34 UTC
Description of problem:

The latest rawhide update ends up with:

Skipped (dependency problems):
  xorg-x11-proto-devel.noarch 0:7.4-34.fc12

This what happens:

--> Processing Conflict: xorg-x11-proto-devel-7.4-34.fc12.noarch conflicts libXxf86dga-devel < 1.1

with libXxf86dga-devel-1.0.99.1-1.fc12 already installed. The current "rawhide report" does not mention it.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
xorg-x11-proto-devel-7.4-34.fc12

Same problem in a fresh install of fedora 12 beta on a mac using vmware fusion. Running system update right after installation reports over 250 updates available, but the update blocks with the message xorg-x11-proto-devel conflicts with libXxf86dga-devel.

Comment 2 Michal Jaegermann 2009-10-24 20:30:33 UTC
There is a clash over /usr/include/X11/extensions/xf86dga.h header which is currently supplied by libXxf86dga-devel-1.0.99.1-1.fc12 and xorg-x11-proto-devel-7.4-34.fc12 and this far from beeing the same file. A new replacement attempts to include either <X11/extensions/xf86dgaconst.h> or <X11/extensions/Xxf86dga.h> header depending on circumstances. While the first one of these is present the second one does not exist; and not only in updates but even in what can be found in koji. libXxf86dga-devel-1.1.1-1, which would likely satisfy requirements, is present in koji only with fc13 tag.

Same problem on a fresh install of F12-beta DVD on ThinkPad A22p (P-III/M). Unsure, but I *think* I'm network-connected to Rawhide during the install. (I'm also having GUI video problems with the ATI Rage Mobility 128 that rips up the right-hand 1/3 of the screen, so I'm navigating blindly.)

"Error Running Transaction"
There was an error running your transaction for the following reason(s): file conflicts.
Details:
There were file conflicts when checking the packages to be installed: file /usr/include/X11/extensions/xf86dga.h conflicts between attempted installs of libXxf86dga-devel-1.0.99.1-1.fc12.i686 and xorg-x11-proto-devel-7.4-34.fc12.noarch.
