Description Henrik Nordström 2009-10-25 00:44:14 UTC
+++ This bug was initially created as a clone of Bug #527302 +++

Description of problem:

While doing a netinstall trying to install F12 beta up to current rawhide from today on a shared hd together with F11 and various existing data partitions by using a custom layout, LVM thinks it has to resize one existing ext2 partition which has not changed size.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

anaconda-12.39-1.fc12.x86_64.rpm

How reproducible:

Always

Steps to Reproduce:
0. Have an existing LVM install with multiple volumes and free space in the LVM set.
1. Try to install F12 in a new LVM volume

Actual results:

Installation significantly delayed due to fsck, resize2fs, fsck of the ext2 data partition.

Expected results:

Should not even touch the ext2 data partition. It's not resized or selected to be mounted in the new install.

Additional info:

Traces & a bit of earlier discussion regarding this can be found in Bug #527302

Comment 1 Bug Zapper 2009-11-16 14:14:19 UTC
This bug appears to have been reported against 'rawhide' during the Fedora 12 development cycle.
Changing version to '12'.

Comment 2 Bug Zapper 2010-11-04 09:09:40 UTC
This message is a reminder that Fedora 12 is nearing its end of life.
Approximately 30 (thirty) days from now Fedora will stop maintaining
and issuing updates for Fedora 12. It is Fedora's policy to close all
bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time
this bug will be closed as WONTFIX if it remains open with a Fedora
'version' of '12'.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version'
to a later Fedora version prior to Fedora 12's end of life.

Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that
we may not be able to fix it before Fedora 12 is end of life. If you
would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it
against a later version of Fedora please change the 'version' of this
bug to the applicable version. If you are unable to change the version,
please add a comment here and someone will do it for you.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's
lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a
more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes
bugs or makes them obsolete.

The process we are following is described here:
http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/BugZappers/HouseKeeping

Comment 3 Fedora End Of Life 2013-04-03 20:01:01 UTC
This bug appears to have been reported against 'rawhide' during the Fedora 19 development cycle.
Changing version to '19'.

(As we did not run this process for some time, it could affect also pre-Fedora 19 development
cycle bugs. We are very sorry. It will help us with cleanup during Fedora 19 End Of Life. Thank you.)

More information and reason for this action is here:

Comment 4 Henrik Nordström 2014-12-15 15:39:04 UTC
Way obsolete. Does not apply to current releases.
