Description of problem: I can connect normally to my wifi router (Linksys WRT 120N with wpa2 encryption enabled and Thinkpad T60 with Atheros Communications Inc. AR5008 Wireless Network Adapter (rev 01)). And the network works fine... till I start downloading and uploading fast torrent files. After some time (sometimes 5 minutes sometimes a couple off hours) the connection hangs, even router doesn't answer pings. But NetworkManager says that the connection is fine. I have to click on my network to reconnect. Sometimes during manual reconnection it displays window with wpa password and sometimes it just connects without any additional actions. In some rare cases NetworkManager recognizes that the connection is lost and then it displays window with wpa password. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): 2.6.30.9-90.fc11.i586 and older How reproducible: I've noticed it only during fast downloads and uploads of torrent files. I've impression that it has something to do with uplaod speed and number off connections. When I limit upload speed in torrent client to 50KBps it hangs much rarely then I don't set any limit Steps to Reproduce: 1. Connect to router 2. Start downloading some torrent files that are fast (many seaders) 3. Wait until the network hangs - the download stops, no ping answers, but the connection is active Actual results: The wifi connection hangs Expected results: Stable, non-hanging wifi connection Additional info: /var/log/messages doesn't say anything interesting. I haven't been able to hang the connection in any other way than bittorrent
For several days I'm testing fedora 12 beta with 2.6.31.5-127.fc12.x86_64 kernel and it's much better. I had only a few (two maybe three) visible disconnects since then. I've noticed that it still disconnects, but usually it reconnects without any user action. I'm not sure what I should do with status off this bug - so I'll leave it to You ;) Regards Piotr
This message is a reminder that Fedora 11 is nearing its end of life. Approximately 30 (thirty) days from now Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 11. Hi, I'm still having the same problem on fedora 13 beta. If I am for example downloading updates, even if it shows the connection is still active the download will just block for about another 10 second to start again and drop again and start again..
Fedora 11 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2010-06-25. Fedora 11 is no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug. If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of Fedora please feel free to reopen this bug against that version.
