Red Hat Satellite engineering is moving the tracking of its product development work on Satellite to Red Hat Jira (issues.redhat.com). If you're a Red Hat customer, please continue to file support cases via the Red Hat customer portal. If you're not, please head to the "Satellite project" in Red Hat Jira and file new tickets here. Individual Bugzilla bugs will be migrated starting at the end of May. If you cannot log in to RH Jira, please consult article #7032570. That failing, please send an e-mail to the RH Jira admins at rh-issues@redhat.com to troubleshoot your issue as a user management inquiry. The email creates a ServiceNow ticket with Red Hat. Individual Bugzilla bugs that are migrated will be moved to status "CLOSED", resolution "MIGRATED", and set with "MigratedToJIRA" in "Keywords". The link to the successor Jira issue will be found under "Links", have a little "two-footprint" icon next to it, and direct you to the "Satellite project" in Red Hat Jira (issue links are of type "https://issues.redhat.com/browse/SAT-XXXX", where "X" is a digit). This same link will be available in a blue banner at the top of the page informing you that that bug has been migrated.

1) Customer Name:
Wwk Lebensversicherung A.G. [A/c no: 1105866]

2) Nature Of Problem:
There is currently no option in the satellite server web UI to choose a
custom date format

3) Business Requirements Satisfied By Request:
The customer wants to be able to set custom date formats for satellite
users. Currently the date is displayed as mm/dd/yy. The customer is from
Germany where date is usually written as dd/mm/yy and therefore is
confusing for the users to interpret the actual date displayed on the web
UI.

4) Functional Requirements That Are Not Presently Possible:
At present, RHN Satellite does not allow any option to set a custom date
format, and all dates are visible in mm/dd/yy format

5) What Will Success Look Like:
There should be a list of date formats to select from for users under
'Overview' tab -> 'Local Preferences'

6) Desired Release Vehicle:
Satellite Minor release

7) Request Meets The Rhel Inclusion Criteria:
Yes

8) Affected Packages:
RHN Satellite Server

9) Sales Sponsor:
Will gather details and update later

10) Rh Business Opportunity With Customer:
Will gather details and update later

11) Status And Risk To Contract If Not Satisfied:
Will gather details and update later

12) If this request is vendor specific, has the customer engaged the
partner as well?:
Not Applicable

So we should show the date in whatever the Locale is for a user. When i switch my Locale to German, I see the dates change on the Channel Errata page from:

MM/DD/YYYY
to
DD.MM.YYYY

Now we only do this on Java pages (urls that end in .do). Any page that ends in .do and does not behave in this manner would be considered a bug.

Would the above meet the customer's needs? (it requires them to set their locale to be set to German either in the webUI or from their browser). We could open up bugs on any individual pages that do not perform as intended or for ones that haven't been converted to java.

Thank you for your interest in Satellite 6. We have evaluated this request, and we do not expect this to be implemented in product in the forseeable future. We are therefore closing this out as WONTFIX. If you have any concerns about this, please feel free to contact Rich Jerrido or Bryan Kearney. Thank you.
