brasero session log file

Description of problem:
I've created a 4.0GiB big ISO file, and attempted to burn it with brasero, which complained that "Something went wrong" and that "An error occured while writing to disc". This makes brasero.. useless.

Version-Release number of selected component:
brasero-2.28.2-2.fc12.x86_64
libburn-0.7.0-1.fc12.x86_64

How reproducible: everytime.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Create an iso file
2. Right click on iso file -> Select "burn a disk", or start brasero manually and choose to burn an already created image.
3. Select the correct device to burn on. (and put a blank disk) and start the burning

Actual results: brasero fails to burn image. See attached log file.

Expected results: Image succesfully burn on DVD

Additional info:
I've tried with differents blank DVDs : same thing.

CD/DVD burner is attached through USB and just works. Here's the matching lshal entry for the device :

Comment 1 Dams 2009-11-05 11:18:27 UTC
With some help from the #libburn channel, I've managed to burn the image with cdrskin, which definitely makes this bug a brasero issue.

Comment 2 Xavier Lamien 2009-11-05 11:36:19 UTC
OK, thanks for additional info.

Although, I'm unable to reproduce this issue with my burner atm.
I'm still investigating.

Comment 3 Dams 2009-11-05 14:03:03 UTC
More informations :

I got SELinux in enforcing mode, though haven't noticed any denial in audit.log. Nothing is printed in kernel.

My user `id' output :

uid=500(anvil) gid=500(anvil) groupes=0(root),483(pulse-access),484(pulse), 500(anvil)contexte=unconfined_u:unconfined_r:unconfined_t:s0-s0:c0.c1023

"one day", I've encountered an application not working anymore because i was in the "root" group. I'll try to remove that and retry.

I've selected a different directory (/mnt/noise) as tmpdir. Iso file is created with brasero.

I'm using DVD-R discs.

Comment 4 Bug Zapper 2009-11-16 15:03:14 UTC
This bug appears to have been reported against 'rawhide' during the Fedora 12 development cycle.
Changing version to '12'.

More information and reason for this action is here:

Comment 5 Edouard Bourguignon 2009-12-11 15:05:24 UTC
same problem with selinux disabled. Any fix?

Comment 6 Edouard Bourguignon 2010-01-02 11:07:24 UTC
still not fixed in brasero-2.28.2-4.fc12.x86_64 :(

Comment 7 Alexey Kuznetsov 2010-02-11 11:30:58 UTC
same here, gnome-burn/brasero fail to write blank or erase disks (it just do not see drive). k3b works fine.

Comment 8 Marcio Andrade 2010-03-05 17:09:17 UTC
I have the same problem with both, Brasero and k3b.

my computer have Linux 2.6.31.12-174.2.22.fc12.x86_64.

I tried burn in low and high speed, and i downgraded my dvd recorder firmware LG GH22NS50 from TN02 to TN01 as sugested in other forum, and i tried other media, and i tried to burn other iso images, but nothing solved my problem. The error is always the same.

I have exactly the same problem as Marcio Andrade has. The same device and the same error. Anything we can do in order to debug the issue?
Unfortunately I even can't burn Fedora 13 to test if the problem is solved there.

Comment 10 Tihomir 2010-10-31 08:53:02 UTC
Fedora 13, x86_64, here. Both k3b and brasero fail to burn an iso to a CD-R.

Comment 12 Bug Zapper 2010-11-04 06:49:22 UTC
This message is a reminder that Fedora 12 is nearing its end of life.
Approximately 30 (thirty) days from now Fedora will stop maintaining
and issuing updates for Fedora 12. It is Fedora's policy to close all
bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time
this bug will be closed as WONTFIX if it remains open with a Fedora
'version' of '12'.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version'
to a later Fedora version prior to Fedora 12's end of life.

Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that
we may not be able to fix it before Fedora 12 is end of life. If you
would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it
against a later version of Fedora please change the 'version' of this
bug to the applicable version. If you are unable to change the version,
please add a comment here and someone will do it for you.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's
lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a
more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes
bugs or makes them obsolete.

The process we are following is described here:
http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/BugZappers/HouseKeeping

Comment 13 Bug Zapper 2010-12-04 03:31:04 UTC
Fedora 12 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2010-12-02. Fedora 12 is
no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further
security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug.

If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of
Fedora please feel free to reopen this bug against that version.

Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.

Comment 14 Dams 2012-06-04 18:54:17 UTC
I'm back online, 2 years after, and this bug is still not fixed.

This is a different error than the one from the original reporter. Please open a separate report in this Red Hat bugzilla and even report it upstream too.

As written in comment 15, this seems to be a separate bug. If you have time, please file a separate report and tell Marcio.

Be sure to describe exactly what steps you did and attach the log files please.

This happened to me today on Fedora 20 x86_64 with brasero version 3.10.0-1.fc20.x86_64

So, in fact "a more recent Fedora release" didn't contain a solution.
