Created attachment 367968 [details] Xorg.0.log with KMS enabled (default) Description of problem: I can't get HW 3D acceleration. With KMS enabled X starts and everything works, except for drm. I do get software rendering through mesa. Xorg.0.log says "(EE) RADEON(0): [drm] Could not create vertex/indirect buffers list" With kernel parm nomodeset I can boot into runlevel 3, but X locks up at start, and I can only power-cycle the notebook. I had this problem with the xorg-x11-server packages from stable (1.6.4-0.1), so I upgraded from updates-testing, but this didn't resolve it. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): xorg-x11-drv-ati-6.12.2-14.fc11.i586 xorg-x11-server-[Xorg|common]-1.6.4-0.3.fc11.i586 kernel-2.6.30.9-96.fc11.i586 How reproducible: always Steps to Reproduce: 1.boot 2. 3. Actual results: with KMS: no drm without KMS: X lockup Expected results: 3D HW accel works. Additional info:

With Fedora 12 the X lockup is gone. That is, I can now start X *and* get acceleration, but I still need nomodeset.
