Spoke too soon :( Both tracker-indexer and wv crashed twice in the last hour or so. https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=563183 https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=563186 - Gilboa
(In reply to comment #12) > Spoke too soon :( > Both tracker-indexer and wv crashed twice in the last hour or so. > https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=563183 > https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=563186 > tracker-0.6.96-2.fc12 should help with both bugs, please try it out. The wv utility used in tracker is buggy and has been deprecated, tracker-0.6.96-2 has it replaced.
OK. Thanks for the head's up. Updating tracker to 96-2 from updates-testing as I write this. - Gilboa

Removed ~/.cache/tracker and .local/tracker and started indexing from scratch. Now abiword is crashing like crazy. (I assume that tracker uses abiword in-onrder to index word documents?) Should I open a new BZ# for abiword? - Gilboa
(In reply to comment #16) > Removed ~/.cache/tracker and .local/tracker and started indexing from scratch. > Now abiword is crashing like crazy. (I assume that tracker uses abiword > in-onrder to index word documents?) > Yes, we are now using abiword in place of deprecated wvText, although I have not added it as an explicit 'Requires' because of its size. > Should I open a new BZ# for abiword? > Please do, with any info/data that might be necessary for them to figure out what's happening. Thanks for your efforts.
Done. https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=563277 How can I find out which file(s) were indexed when abiword crashed? (It actually crashed 7 times during the first indexing session...) - Gilboa

Beyond large number of glib asserts, I don't really see anything interesting. I do see one weird error: "09 Feb 2010, 20:51:10: Tracker-Warning **: Unable to retrieve info from file (Error stating file '/mnt/Work/vim/4913': No such file or directory) Now everything is nice and dandy, except, I don't have a directory named 4913 in /mnt/Work/vim/4913. ... And I seeing the same error over and over again - each time with different directory prefix. Broken scandir/readdir? - Gilboa
I seriously messed up with the MS word filer patch in tracker-0.6.96-2, sorry. Please try out the tracker-0.6.96-3 builds at http://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/taskinfo?taskID=1974296 . I will be pushing it out shortly (and revoking tracker-0.6.96-2). Also, the alleged issue with abiword might actually be due to this mistake and not a problem in abiword.
Updated. Did a full re-index. Abiword crashed only once (as opposed to ~9 times in 0.6.96-2. - Gilboa

This message is a reminder that Fedora 12 is nearing its end of life. Approximately 30 (thirty) days from now Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 12. It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time this bug will be closed as WONTFIX if it remains open with a Fedora 'version' of '12'. Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version prior to Fedora 12's end of life. Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we may not be able to fix it before Fedora 12 is end of life. If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Fedora please change the 'version' of this bug to the applicable version. If you are unable to change the version, please add a comment here and someone will do it for you. Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete. The process we are following is described here: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/BugZappers/HouseKeeping
Fedora 12 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2010-12-02. Fedora 12 is no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug. If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of Fedora please feel free to reopen this bug against that version. Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.
