This bug has been copied from bug #450855 and has been proposed
to be backported to 5.2 z-stream (EUS).

Installed the fix and it works GREAT ...  

We were at kernel level 2.6.18.92.el5

The hot fix moved us to kernel level 2.6.18-92.1.30.el5

The problem is now gone !!!! and a system with bonded interfaces (rh5.2) can shutdown now when told to do so ...
