Description Aaron Schlaegel 2009-11-23 07:19:26 UTC
Description of problem:
Sound worked in Fedora 11 (other than the pesky volume drops in Pulse at every track change until a couple of weeks before F12 was released).
After upgrading to F12, headphones no longer mutes the speakers.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
kernel-2.6.31.5-127.fc12.x86_64
alsa-lib-1.0.21-3.fc12.x86_64
alsa-plugins-pulseaudio-1.0.21-2.fc12.x86_64
pulseaudio-0.9.19-2.fc12.x86_64

How reproducible:
This happens every time.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Plug in headphones.
2. Listen to the sound still come out the speakers.

Actual results:
The speakers stay on in F12 even when headphones are inserted.

Expected results:
The speakers should turn off when headphones are inserted, like they did in F11.

Additional info:
I cannot find a way to get it to work with `alsamixer -c0`.
The output of `alsactl init 0` is...
  Unknown hardware: "HDA-Intel" "Intel G45 DEVELK" "HDA:10ec0888,102802ac,00100202 HDA:80862803,80860101,00100000" "0x1028" "0x02ac"
Hardware is initialized using a guess method

I am having this same problem in Fedora 13 x86_64.

Here is my output of `alsactl init 0`

Unknown hardware: "HDA-Intel" "Conexant ID 5069" "HDA:14f15069,17aac007,00100302" "0x17aa" "0x3938"
Hardware is initialized using a guess method

Comment 3 Aaron Schlaegel 2010-07-23 14:49:09 UTC
This still has the same behavior in F13. I just wish I knew of some software knob or software switch to make the headphone presence mute the speakers.

Comment 4 Chris 2010-10-29 12:30:35 UTC
Same problem here on F13 x86_64 on a Toshiba Satellite L650 - headphone mute works fine on Win7.

Output of "alsactl init 0" is:

Unknown hardware: "HDA-Intel" "Intel G45 DEVIBX" "HDA:14f15069,1179fd10,00100302 HDA:80862804,1179ff16,00100000" "0x1179" "0xff1e"

Comment 5 Bug Zapper 2011-06-02 17:20:13 UTC
This message is a reminder that Fedora 13 is nearing its end of life.
Approximately 30 (thirty) days from now Fedora will stop maintaining
and issuing updates for Fedora 13. It is Fedora's policy to close all
bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time
this bug will be closed as WONTFIX if it remains open with a Fedora
'version' of '13'.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version'
to a later Fedora version prior to Fedora 13's end of life.

Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that
we may not be able to fix it before Fedora 13 is end of life. If you
would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it
against a later version of Fedora please change the 'version' of this
bug to the applicable version. If you are unable to change the version,
please add a comment here and someone will do it for you.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's
lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a
more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes
bugs or makes them obsolete.

The process we are following is described here:
http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/BugZappers/HouseKeeping

Comment 6 Bug Zapper 2011-06-27 14:35:02 UTC
Fedora 13 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2011-06-25. Fedora 13 is
no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further
security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug.

If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of
Fedora please feel free to reopen this bug against that version.

Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.
