Description Gilbert E. Detillieux 2009-11-26 16:33:11 UTC
Description of problem:
Support for SGE was included in openmpi starting with version 1.2, and was enabled by default. However, starting with version 1.3, you now need to run configure with the "--with-sge" option in order to enable it:

http://www.open-mpi.org/faq/?category=running#run-n1ge-or-sge

The upgrade to RHEL 5.4 introduced openmpi-1.3.2, which breaks existing SGE setups. Configuring openmpi "--with-sge" in the build would restore the behaviour we had in RHEL 5.3 for sites that have installed SGE, and shouldn't impact sites not using SGE.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
1.3 and later

Actual results:
SGE support is now disabled after the update to openmpi-1.3.2.

Expected results:
It would be nice if we could continue to use SGE without having to custom compile our how openmpi packages.

Additional info:
This was previously reported by someone else in bug #521334, but the response was that it should have its own bug.
